Faith Formation

On a Journey Together The process of evangelization and renewal in the Diocese of   Des Moines is underway in the parishes of the diocese. The first season, Awakening to Christ, is inviting members of our faith communities to explore in small groups, the person of Jesus and how he impacts their lives daily. Season two, Following Christ, will be ready for use in the parishes during the Lenten season. If you would like to participate in conversation about the process with others throughout the diocese, feel free to visit the On a Journey Together blog at http://onajourneytogether.blogspot.com

Creighton Certificate Programs, cosponsored by the Diocese and Creighton University These Certificate Programs provide systematic formation for ministry and leadership. Catechetial Services The Office of Catechetical Services, formerly called the Office of Religious Education, serves the faith formation needs of children and youth in parishes and Catholic Schools. Recognizing that lifelong growth in faith is essential to the formation of Catholic Christians as Disciples of Christ, the primary focus of this office is to assist pastors, catechetical leaders and catechists in their local parish faith formation efforts.

Lay Ministry The Diocese of Des Moines sponsors basic formation for people engaged in or interested in leadership and ministry for parish communities.

Youth Ministry We are committed to the goals of comprehensive youth ministry as laid out in the  document "Renewing the Vision", published by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops.  This document provides to all those who minister to adolescents a framework for which to build a foundation.  It is our attempt to help parishes and schools launch or continue this vision.  "Renewing the Vision" is a call to make ministry with adolescents a concern for the entire church community.

Concerned Parents + Abstinence Education In today' world, teens are exposed to sexual content every day, and parents have reason to be concerned. Recent studies have found that parental involvement and abstinence education can have a strong positive influence over a teen's sexual behaviors. For more information go to website www.concernedparents.com
