Parish Expansion
In late 2010, Bishop Richard Pates announced the creation of the new St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, which will include a church, K-8 school and senior citizen living facility, in northwest Ankeny. The new parish was created with the generous gift of 35 acres of land from Fern Ringgenberg and her late sister, Mary, and a pledge of $2 million from Don and Charlene Lamberti for the school. The founding pastor, Father Larry Hoffmann, has been hard at work using temporary office space at Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Church in Ankeny. He has a website for the new parish up and running, www.saintluketheevangelist.org, and invites people interested in being a part of the new parish to go online and complete a form with contact information.
