Diocesan Senior Housing

Mission: To enable our senior parishioners to participate in their community
and parish life and the practice of their faith by providing access to their parish
church through housing that is designed for independent senior living.

Present Initiatives:

• Exploring various survey tools to identify senior parishioner interest, needs and preferences.

• Develop support from Mercy Medical for demographic analysis, home health services, social worker services, and referrals to their facilities.

• Analysis of constructors funding sources (e.g., HUD, Tax Credits, etc.)

• Creation of legal structure for the commission (new corporate entity).

The diocese has created the Senior Housing Corp. as a resource to parishes that want to establish housing for senior citizens in their community.  The creation of this resource was announced a few months prior to the kickoff of the centennial year.
