World Youth Day, Madrid 2011
More than 60 young adults traveled to Madrid, Spain in August for World Youth Day. They joined nearly 1.5 million youth from around the world in prayer and fellowship with Pope Benedict XVI. Pilgrims are already talking about World Youth Day 2013, to be held in Rio de Janeiro.
Centennial celebration
On Nov. 6, 2011, the entire diocese -- including 81 parishes in 23 counties in central and souwthest Iowa -- will have a celebration at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines celebrating the diocese's 100th anniversary. A youth rally will be held prior to the liturgy at the Polk County Convention Complex featuring nationally known musician, composer and youth minister Steve Angrisano. You can register with your parish youth minister and get more information through the St. Thomas More Center.
National Catholic Youth Conference
The National Catholic Youth Conference celebration will be in Indianapolis in 2011. The diocesan goal is to have 750 youth from around the diocese attend the event. Get more information from the St. Thomas More Center.
