The Diocese of Des Moines

Iowans for LIFE annual fundraiser

Start Date: 10/12/2017

Join us at Prairie Meadows' Bishop Ballroom at 6 p.m. on Oct. 12 for the seventh annual fundraiser for Iowans for LIFE.

The keynote presenter is former NFL star Matt Birk. This Catholic boy from St. Paul, Minnesota was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 1998 draft. He was named the 2011 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his off-the-field service, as well as his playing excellence. After a 15 year career in the NFL and a Super Bowl XLVII win with the Baltimore Ravens, the six-time Pro Bowl Center retired from playing football and accepted a position with the National Football League as their Director of Football Development.

When the Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2013, he declined to meet President Barack Obama with his teammates due to a comment the president made in a speech in which he said, "God bless Planned Parenthood." Birk said. "It was because of my Catholic faith and my pro-life convictions, but ultimately, it was because of my kids."

Matt and wife Adrianna are raising seven children, all under the age of 14.

Tickets are $50, or a table of 8 for $500. for more information or to order your tickets, call 515-255-4113 or e-mail Iowans for LIFE
