March 29, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. for The Art of Healing awareness event and fundraiser in Council Bluffs.

The fifth annual “Art of Healing” awareness event and fundraiser for the Phoenix House Domestic Violence Shelter and Sexual Abuse Program in Council Bluffs will be held Thursday, March 29 at St. Peter’s Social Hall in Council Bluffs.
 

Each year the event is held to raise awareness about sexual assault & domestic violence by celebrating
the connection between the arts and healing. This year’s featured art form is comedy. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a brief reflections on laughter and healing followed by “The Amazing Arthur”, a Second City trained comedian that combines magic, mentalism, juggling and audience participation. The event will kick off sexual assault awareness efforts taking place in the month of April.

Each April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Phoenix House Domestic Violence Shelter & Sexual Abuse Program seeks to bring awareness to the community about the issue of domestic and sexual violence by celebrating the connection between the arts and healing.

 

All proceeds from the event and silent art auction will support the work of the Phoenix House which has been helping victims of sexual assault and domestic violence for more than 28 years in Council Bluffs and continues to help women and families find refuge, courage and hope.
