Workshops and Seminars

The Diocesan Development Office provides complimentary planned giving services to all parishes and schools throughout the Diocese.  Two specific workshops are currently being offered and customized topics are also available for your parish by request.  Contact the Development Office at (515) 237-5079 for more information.

Wills Seminar

In recognizing God’s gifts to each of us in our lifetime, we take on a responsibility to care for these gifts even in death. As good stewards, we need consider the value of having a legal will. Each of us has a will. If you have a legally drawn will, you have a will of your own design. If you have not taken the time to draw up your own will, the state has prepared one for you.

This seminar is designed for parishioners 18 years of age and older. This educational and inspirational workshop is designed to illustrate the need for a legal will to insure the care of your children, property, and charitable wishes. The 90-minute workshop can be scheduled through the Diocesan development office.

Bequest Awareness

Each parish and school should make parishioners aware of the opportunity to support your school or parish beyond this lifetime.  A simple way of doing so, is to include simple language in your weekly bulletin or announcements.  Attached are editable samples of wording you can use each week.

Charitable Gift Annuity Luncheon

In today's economic times, Charitable Gift Annuities offer donors a lifetime income at interest rates that are not available elsewhere.  These seminars have been found to be very successful and well-received throughout the Diocese. The format is a simple luncheon or dinner, hosted by the parish, which includes personal invitations for up to 40 guests with maximum RSVP of 20 participants. This more intimate setting allows for a further discussion of specifics of charitable gift annuities and other planned giving mechanisms.

Participants will spend time in prayer, fellowship, a presentation from the Diocesan Development Office and an extensive Q & A session.  Total time is less than two hours.  The Development Office will then follow-up with all participants as requested to ensure their questions are answered and they have the opportunity to make a gift to a parish, school, Diocese or Catholic charity.
