The Diocese of Des Moines

Locations and Hours

The Diocese of Des Moines's main administrative building, called the Catholic Pastoral Center, is the home of the bishop's office, most diocesan and Catholic Charities offices. It is located at 601 Grand Ave. in Des Moines, east across 6th Street is the Polk County Convention Complex, and north across High Street is St. Ambrose Cathedral. The three-story, mostly black steel and glass building is on the state historical registry. Built by modern architecture pioneer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, it was originally a savings and loan and still has a drive-through lane on the north side of the building.
