Bishop lobbies at the Capitol —

Bishop Richard Pates, along with Dubuque Archbishop Jerome Hanus, OSB, Sioux City Bishop R. Walker Nickless and Davenport Bishop Martin Amos, met legislators at the Iowa Capitol on Feb. 2. They affirmed the work of legislators supportive of bills of interest to the Catholic Church in Iowa, and talked with other legislators in seeking their support. The bishops, through their work with the Iowa Catholic Conference, annually hold a morning opportunity to meet and visit with legislators. Archbishop Hanus offered the opening prayer in the state House and Senate.
