What sets Catholic Charities Counseling Program apart from others?

I was recently asked, “What sets Catholic Charities Counseling Program apart from others?” My simple response was that we have the pleasure and the opportunity to provide therapy services for all those that may need it. Our sliding fee scale enables us to provide quality, professional services to those who may otherwise not be able to access services. We also take insurance allowing people who do have the option to utilize their health care benefits.

But that’s not all.

Our practice of Bowen Family Systems Theory also sets us apart from many other counseling agencies. We encourage and support individuals to look at things from another perspective by being more thoughtful verses emotional when making decisions. We do not tell people what to do, but guide them to a healthier and more productive way of looking at things.

Dear Catholic Charities,

Thank you so much for helping me greatly with the rent I owed my landlord. I know there are so many people and families that are in need of your assistance. I never thought I would end up in a situation where I had no choice but to ask for help. Your kind response gave me hope. I felt blessed and fortunate to receive your help. The bread and the groceries that day were also a needed and welcome surprise for which I was so very grateful. Thank you for caring, thank you for all the hard work you do and for your help.

I am grateful to you and the people and companies that made the donations possible. I must not have been alone as I felt, for somehow Jesus got me to your door.

I commit my time and money to Catholic Charities because everyday they help those in need. From the homeless family that needs a place to stay, to St. Mary Family Center where the hungry can get food, to being there for victims of domestic abuse, to those who need counseling, Catholic Charities is there for the poor and vulnerable. It makes me aware of those in need and I am a better person because of my work with Catholic Charities. - Marty Walsh, Board Chairperson
