Pentecost Notes

  1. Sequence: Incorporate the Pentecost Sequence in a meaningful way: revisit this blog post
  2. Remember that the new Missal provides a fantastic option for an extended vigil at Pentecost. Do yourself and your parish a favor and pray with the readings for the Pentecost Vigil this year. You can use any or all of the readings in an Easter-Vigil-like celebration. Look over one commentator's memory of a spectacular Pentecost Vigil celebrated in Rome.

Large Print Roman Missals for Priests Return to Top
The National Catholic Partnership on Disability (NCPD) is preparing large-print formats of the official text of the Roman Missal, Third Edition. Offered in font sizes of 24, 34, and 44, these large-print versions will equip priests with low vision to celebrate Mass using the revised texts. The large-print Roman Missal includes a red leather-like binder, with tabs and ribbons, suitable for use on the altar. Roman Missals are available on CD or in print upon request. Lectionaries also available, distributed on CD only. All materials are available free of charge, with donations requested of those with means. For more information contact the NCPD at 202.529.2933 or vist the organization's website.

Bulletin Article Series  (Click here for the document)
Thanks to LTP, the Archdiocese of Dubuque, and the Diocese of Davenport, we have a bulletin article series entitled “Bread for the Journey”. The first 17 items were released in May, and items 18-43 continue that series. Pastors and parish bulletin editors are strongly encouraged to use this as a means of catechesis beginning as soon as possible.

Some General Information on the New Missal

  1. November 27, 2011, the First Sunday in Advent, was the date of first use of the Third Edition. No other edition of the Roman Missal may be used in liturgies.
  2. Additional Resources: See the diocese's general plan for formation of the Missal, on the Office for Worship's main page. Check out www.becomeonebodyonespiritinchrist.org for an excellent, international effort at multimedia formation. Also, LTP's series by Paul Turner is informative and accessible to most parishioners.
