Fanning the Flame Retreat

Catholic Pastoral Center, 601 Grand Avenue, Des Moines

***

Due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and out of a desire to limit the spread any further, the decision has been made to cancel this April's Fanning the Flame day of reflection.

***

"Fanning the Flame" is a day of reflection dedicated to the discernment of spiritual gifts. This dual-track day is ideal for youth preparing for Confirmation, along with their parents and sponsors.

The day begins at 9am and ends at 5pm, after Mass together at 4 at St. Ambrose Cathedral.  The reflection portion before Mass will be held in the First Floor gathering space of the Catholic Pastoral Center, at 601 Grand Avenue, in downtown Des Moines.

A day of Fanning the Flame teen track consists largely of small group sessions, with a couple large group sessions to guide them through a Spiritual Gifts Inventory, in order to help participants discern what sort of gifts the Holy Spirit is calling them to live into with & after Confirmation.  The adult track is similar, with more large group sessions and a focus not only on discerning Spiritual Gifts, but also how to foster this process of discernment in teens before & after they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, thus equipping both adults and teens for lifelong discipleship.

Cost is $40 for teens, $20 for adults, and includes lunch.

If you are registering multiple teens or adults, please either email Justin White for assistance, or simply complete the registration process here on the website multiple times.
