COVID-19
Due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19, all Diocesan young adult programming participants are required to follow necessary precautions such as mask-wearing and social distancing, along with others prescribed at the gatherings. Thank you for your charity to others!
Continue to take care of yourselves and one another, persevere in prayer, and wash your hands!
Upcoming Events
id Disciples' Night—November 5, 2020
The November Disciples' Night: “Love Never Fails” will be taking place at Christ the King (5711 SW 9th St Des Moines, IA 50315) starting at 5:30.
The evening begins by joining the 5:30 p.m. Mass, with confession, dinner & a talk to follow.
Building on the series on the theological virtues, Heather Khym will be speaking about the virtue of love or charity. One of the most talked about topics, love, is often misunderstood and misconstrued. Heather will help dive into the true and biblical understanding of love as Jesus communicates and exemplifies.
Theology on Tap—November 19, 2020
Catholics are called to carry the values of the Gospel into the political life of our country. With the approach of the 2020 elections, now is an important time to address the role of Catholics in the political process and legislative principles supported by the Church. Join us on November 19th for an evening of doing so with Bishop William Joensen (11/19).
Location will once again at the Sherwood Forest Event Center, at 7400 Hickman Road, in Windsor Heights. The events will begin at 7:00 PM, so doors will open at 6:45. After Open Forum Q&A with the speaker, the evening will end at 8:30 PM.
For COVID reasons, please register for each ahead of time (admission is still free). This will allow us to properly prepare for social distancing during the evening. Masks are charitably requested and strongly encouraged.
Registration for 11/19 HERE
Bring your own food if you'd like, but please no drinks. The Sherwood Forest Event Center bar will be open and staffed for purchases.
As always, Theology on Tap is open to all young adults who want to join, and is a great opportunity for folks who may have been away from the Church for a bit but want to get connected again—be sure to invite your friends
YCDM Thursday Nights
Dedicated to growing in faith through community, Young Catholics of Des Moines (YCDM) meets weekly (usually on Thursdays) to celebrate and grow in our faith with one another. This community draws from all parishes in the greater Des Moines metro, and is dedicated to helping young adults grow to be more and more connected not only to YCDM but to the parishes of our Diocese.
There is no need to sign-up, register, or "officially" be a part of YCDM--if you're a young Catholic in Des Moines, you're in! Come to all the events every month, or just come to the ones that strike you as something that you need.
