With the goal of helping all involved come to a more lively understanding of the Holy Spirit's role in their lives, Fanning the Flame is a retreat for 9th/10th graders, their parents, and their Confirmation sponsors.  Over the course of one weekend (10am Saturday through 12pm Sunday), we will explore the ways in which the Lord's Spirit moves among us as He promised.

Fanning the Flame functions as two retreats: one for teens, led by a group of volunteer leaders dedicated to ensuring they have a safe and prayerful weekend wherein they can encounter the Lord, and another for adults, led by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic director focused on guiding them through a weekend not only of discerning the gifts of the Spirit in their lives, but in the lives of their teens as well.  While both retreats take place at the same location (the St Thomas More Center in Panora, IA), they are structured in such a way as to run parallel to one another, intersecting only in particular moments of worship.

Registration for Fanning the Flame is $75 for teens and $50 for adults.  This covers the cost of overnight lodging, retreat materials, lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast and lunch-to-go on Sunday, and snacks along the way.

Financial assistance is available on request to Justin White, Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministry.

COVID-19 remains a dynamic threat and a reality we must not ignore.  All participants on Fanning the Flame will be required to abide by all relevant CDC, local, and Diocesan protocols pertaining to the pandemic while on retreat, and are expected to keep in mind their participation in the weeks leading up to the retreat as well--stay safe and healthy, for yourself and your neighbor.

Registration closes September 24th, and cancellation requests can only be refunded if received by October 1st.
