April 4th, 2020 Fanning the Flame cancelled
Due to ongoing concerns about COVID-19, the 2020 Fanning the Flame day of reflection has been cancelled.

"Fanning the Flame" is a day of reflection dedicated to the discernment of spiritual gifts. This dual-track day is great for youth preparing for Confirmation, along with their parents and sponsors.
The day begins at 9am and ends at 5pm, after Mass together at 4 at St. Ambrose Cathedral. The day will be held at the Catholic Pastoral Center, at 601 Grand Avenue, in downtown Des Moines.
A day of Fanning the Flame teen track consists largely of small group sessions, with a couple large group sessions to guide them through a Spiritual Gifts Inventory, in order to help participants discern what sort of gifts the Holy Spirit is calling them to live into with & after Confirmation. The adult track is similar, with more large group sessions and a focus not only on discerning Spiritual Gifts, but also how to foster this process of discernment in teens before & after they receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, thus equipping both adults and teens for lifelong discipleship.
