Prayer & Spirituality: Entering Lent  

WEST DES MOINES – Prepare for the Lenten season by joining St. Francis of Assisi from 7-9 p.m. in the parish hall for an introduction of St. Ignatius and his first encounters with discernment. Cindy Shaw, of Emmaus House, will help us look at the role of awareness and “holy listening,” and explore how Ignatius’ "three modes/methods of discernment" can be applied to the questions we ask about life. Christian Experience Weekend

ANKENY -- The women’s CEW is a renewal weekend for adults, designed to enable them to more deeply “experience” themselves and their relationship to God and the Christian community. Natural Family Planning Classes

WEST DES MOINES -- The next three-part series of classes on the sympto-thermal method of natural family planning is from 6-8:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Cost is a one-time fee of $130 for all course materials, classes, one year of consultation with certified instructors and more. Financial assistance available. Faith & Healing Series

DES MOINES -- Mercy College in Des Moines is offering Faith & Healing series from 6-7:30 p.m. and is open to the public.  It will be held on the campus of Mercy College in the Sullivan Center. Refreshments will be served.  Free parking in the Sullivan Center visitor lot. The speaker is Mercy sister Patricia Talone, Ph.D., associate professor of moral theology at Boston College.

St. Luke's Green Gala

ANKENY – St. Luke the Evangelist Parish is hosting the St. Luke’s Green Gala from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. at the Courtyard Marriott in Ankeny.  Tickets are $75/person, includes meal plus free wine and beer cocktail hour from 6-7 p.m. Silent and live auction and DJ for dancing. WEST DES MOINES -- Come to the Sheraton Inn for an afternoon of music, fun, and festivities presented by the Dowling Catholic High School Performing Arts Department. Doors open at 1 p.m., show begins at 1:30 p.m. Desserts and beverages available for purchase, admission is free.

GriefShare Seminar

WEST DES MOINES – St. Francis of Assisi Church is hosting a seminary to offer encouragement and support to those who experience the death of a loved one. The seminar, called GriefShare, runs on Mondays Feb. 13-March 13 at 10 a.m. Limited to 20 participants. Suggested donation for materials $25.
