Hispanic Community Outreach
The Hispanic Community Outreach Program seeks to recognize the contributions of newcomers to Iowa communities. It is our mission to facilitate the full participation of new immigrants and Hispanic/Latino families in their communities through advocacy, direct service, and support of community-based initiatives. We serve people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Individual/Family Therapist
Many newcomers to Iowa are bearing the stresses of working multiple jobs, raising their families, and learning a new culture – often while cut off from the family support systems in their home countries. We provide counseling support to individuals, families and couples (including couples in cross-cultural marriages). Call 515-237-5018 for an appointment.
Outreach Specialist
Many community members are unaware of the excellent resources and organizations that exist in our area. Our outreach specialist works to improve community awareness of and access to all area resources. Through door-to-door outreach, church presentations, the specialist provides a welcoming first connection. Call 515-237-5047 for more information.
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
The federal government has created immigration guidelines for Deferred Action, a temporary immigration status that protects young undocumented immigrants from deportation and gives them a work permit. Click here for a checklist (in English) (checklist in Spanish) of documents that will serve as required evidence, to be submitted with an application for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. We strongly recommend you consult with a legal representative who is experienced in immigration law before filing your application.
