Dear Friends:

Heartfelt welcome to the religious vocations website of the Church of Des Moines. I hope this material will aid you in your walk with the Lord.

The people of Southwest Iowa are faith-filled and dedicated to their parishes and our diocese as well as being warm, caring and hard-working. I consider it a blessing to serve this community as Bishop.

The people, too, are aware and thankful for the many and Godly priests, deacons, consecrated religious and lay ministers who so generously lead them in prayer and Christian living. They realize what a profound impact these dedicated ministers have in their lives and families.

In 2011, the Diocese of Des Moines celebrated its 100 birthday!  I invite you to reflect upon the generations of men and women who have so effectively committed their lives in this Church in making Jesus Christ known and loved. Perhaps the Lord is calling you, as he has consistently called disciples since his earthly ministry to “Come, follow Me” as priest, deacon, consecrated religious or lay minister. In considering this call, please know that you would be most welcome to respond to this call here in the heartland of America, the Diocese of Des Moines. Do not be afraid to answer that call!!
