The success of our outreach programs is because of the generosity of our volunteers and donors. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with those in need.
Volunteers Needed
Help set up a new home for a refugee family!
We need energetic volunteers able to assist with moving furniture, setting up beds and all the things that go into setting up a new home for a family. Feel free to circulate our Apartment Set Up Volunteer flyer. Email pschacherer@dmdiocese.org to sign up for our volunteer email list.
Provide supper or an afternoon snack at St. Joseph Emergency Family Shelter
Evening meal preparation at the shelter is done by volunteers!

Help at St. Mary Family Center, food pantry & clothing closet
Load, unload, box and distribute food, sort clothing donations and administer clothing closet. Volunteers are needed Monday-Friday from 9:30am-12:30pm and/or 12:30pm-3:30pm.

Donate Bus Tokens
St. Joseph Emergency Family Shelter, 1535 11th St., Des Moines
Transportation, especially during the cold winter months, is a challenge for many of our guests. Bus tokens are a much appreciated item to help families staying at the shelter. Bus tokens can be purchased at Dahl’s, Hy-Vee and Younkers at $12 for 10 tokens.
