Discover the Difference: Catholic Education Is More Affordable Than You Think

Students at Shelby County Catholic School

Considering a Catholic school for your child but concerned about the cost of tuition? Catholic education is more affordable than you may think. Every year the Catholic Tuition Organization (CTO) provides tuition assistance to eligible families whose children attend Catholic schools in the Diocese of Des Moines. Last year, CTO provided scholarships to nearly 2,000 students.

WHAT IS CTO?

CTO is a charitable organization that receives voluntary cash contributions from Iowa taxpayers, and then allocates those funds in the form of tuition assistance to eligible families who attend accredited nonpublic schools.

HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

The amount of tuition assistance awarded to individual families is based on income level and number of dependents, as well as, tuition level of the school, family circumstances, and cost of living.

WHO CAN APPLY?

All families are welcome to apply, however families must meet the income guidelines below and the school's admissions requirements to qualify for assistance through CTO. Families who do not qualify for this program can explore alternative tuition assistance opportunities like our Welcome Tuition Grant or local school scholarships. Contact your school for more information.
