Year End Celebration with April Young

Join our lifelong formation in faith community on May 19 as we celebrate YOU and your contributions to nurture and grow a vibrant and engaged Catholic faith in those you work with.  This is a celebration for those whose ministry outreach is in sacramental preparation, youth ministry, campus ministry, adult formation, religious education, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Family Faith/Intergenerational formation, and those working with catechumens and candidates in Becoming Catholic (OCIA) processes.  

Our guest facilitator for the morning is April Young from Emmaus House Spirituality Center in Urbandale.  April is a sought after retreat facilitator and spiritual director.  She will provide the majority of our time in the morning with inspiration and challenge as we head off for the summer.  

At 11:00 am we will shift to a Q&A Session on the new Confirmation process.  Bishop Joensen will be updating the entire Diocese during Pentecost weekend.  We would like to get your first reaction as we take the process into the summer and begin building out all of the components.  

A hallmark of our time together is great food catered by Hy-Vee.  Sherri Simmer is working on a delicious two entree buffet, with side dishes, dessert, and dinner rolls.  The day kicks off with a continental breakfast.  We will have updates for the next formation year and end with door prizes.

  • 9:00 am – Social gathering with light breakfast items provided by the Diocese
  • 9:30 am – Opening prayer service with April Young
  • 9:45 am - Spiritual Opportunity with April Young
  • 11:00 am – Confirmation Q&A
  • 12:00 pm –Voting for 2026-2027 programming and an announcement of our Summer Enrichment Session speaker for August 18
  • 12:15 pm – Door prizes and meal prayer
  • 12:30 pm - Lunch catered by Hy-Vee
