Bishop Joensen invites you to a Prayer Vigil on Sunday, September 6 at 3:00pm at St. Anthony’s Grotto to pray for all individuals and families who will soon lose their Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Please join us for this time of prayer, hope and solidarity, as we place in God’s hands all those facing the uncertainty losing this protection.

El Obispo Joensen le invita a una vigilia de oración el domingo 6 de septiembre a las 3:00pm en la Gruta de la parroquia de St. Anthony para pedir por todas las personas y familias que próximamente perderán su Estatus de Protección Temporal. (TPS). Acompáñenos en este momento de fe, esperanza y solidaridad, poniendo en las manos de Dios a quienes enfrentan la incertidumbre de perder esta protección.

Some people may wonder what TPS is. Temporary Protected Status, commonly known as TPS, is a humanitarian immigration program created by Congress in 1990.

TPS allows nationals from certain countries experiencing armed conflict, natural disasters, or extraordinary conditions to remain temporarily in the United States without fear of deportation. It also allows them to apply for work authorization while the designation remains in place.

There are several countries that are losing their TPS designations including El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Somalia, Ukraine, Sudan, Yemen, Nepal, Syria.
