Spring Ministry Day
March 12, 2026 9:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Location: Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Atlantic, Iowa
During our Spring Ministry Day on March 12, help us begin a powerful conversation on a vibrant culture of evangelization with Austin Habash and, along the way, consider ways in which we can enhance what is already happening in your parish community. We’ll meet 9 a.m. 3 p.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Church in Atlantic. Habash, founder of Sent Evangelization and Think Catholic, will guide us in preparing to fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) through topical presentations, discussion, and prayer. Registration and a flyer are coming soon. To learn more about Habash, use this link to the Lila Rose show. Forward to the five-minute mark and watch for the next four minutes.
Here is what I learned by watching the entire episode.
- Go Where People Are. Encourage outreach beyond parish walls — meet people in their neighborhoods, workplaces, and everyday spaces, not just expect them to come to church events.
- Evangelization Begins with Simple, Relational Encounters – Formation programs could focus on equipping people (adults, teens, staff) with practical relational skills — listening, sharing faith stories, and offering brief prayers — so evangelization feels approachable and heartfelt.
- Teach the Gospel Clearly and Memorably - Incorporate simple, memorable evangelization frameworks into religious education, RCIA, and youth ministry so students and parishioners can confidently share the faith with others.
- Evangelization Is Both Prayerful and Practical - Create evangelization efforts that include prayer teams and service projects (e.g., helping neighbors with small needs), showing faith in action in addition to inviting people to Mass or classes.
- Formational Impact on Parish Culture - Foster a culture where every member — from clergy to children in religious education — sees evangelization as part of their identity, not just a program.
