Called and Gifted TM

Catherine of Siena Institute

Here in southwest Iowa, we know that God works through ordinary people.  In our parishes, schools, farms, neighborhoods, and workplaces, the Holy Spirit continues to equip Catholics with extraordinary gifts for the mission of the Church.  Through the Called & Gifted™ Discernment Process from the Catherine of Siena Institute, more than 200,000 Christians worldwide have discovered the spiritual gifts (charisms) God has placed within them.  These spiritual gifts are not simply talents or skills.  They are graces given by the Holy Spirit to help others encounter Christ and experience God's love.  Whether you're serving in your parish, coaching young people, caring for your family, or building community in your town, God has entrusted you with gifts meant to bear fruit.  Charisms belong to every baptized Christian, and when they are discovered and put into service, they strengthen both the Church and our communities throughout the Diocese of Des Moines.  As the Catechism reminds us, “All charisms ought to be exercised in the service of God” (CCC #2003).

  • "Could God be calling me to something more?" Those discerning priesthood, diaconate, religious life, or other forms of service in the Church gain valuable insight into how God has equipped them for mission.

  • "How can I serve more effectively in my parish, school, or ministry?" Parish staff, catechists, teachers, volunteers, clergy, and religious find that understanding their charisms helps them minister with greater confidence and fruitfulness.
