The Catholic Mirror magazine is more than a communications vehicle. It is a ministry that reflects a longstanding legacy of sharing stories that inform, inspire, and boldly communicate the teachings of our faith.
The Catholic Mirror is the primary communication tool used by the Diocese to share inspiration, information, and news with more than 30,000 registered Catholic households in central and southwest Iowa. Bishop William Joensen is asking parishioners to consider donation to this crucial ministry so that every Catholic home can cultivate new connections in Christ.
Q: The Catholic Mirror previously was a monthly diocesan newspaper and is now a bimonthly magazine. What prompted this change and how does it benefit the Diocese?
A: We launched our new, colorful, bimonthly magazine as a direct response to the feedback we heard from parishioners through listening sessions, surveys, and interviews resulting in a new diocesan mission and vision. You told us you wanted us to boldly and clearly share the teachings of the Catholic Church, and our new publication enables us to do that most effectively.
Q: How does The Catholic Mirror act as a ministry to help people cultivate new connections in Christ?
A: By sending The Catholic Mirror to every registered household, we are able to offer encouragement and education to Catholic families across our Diocese. This is in direct response to what our people asked us to do – help you better understand the Gospel and its place in your daily life. Your support of this ministry helps to assure that we are able to continue widespread distribution of our magazine, connecting even those who are not engaged with their parish in a special and profound way.
Q: Why are you asking parishioners to give their financial support to The Catholic Mirror?
A: By sending The Catholic Mirror to every registered household, we are demonstrating that this ministry is vital for all Catholic families.
