End-of-the-Year Priest Appointments

Bishop William Joensen has made the following appointments.

The Very Rev. Aquinas Nichols retiring as Rector (Pastor) of the Basilica of St. John, Des Moines, and from active, assigned ministry, effective January 5, 2026. 

The Very Rev. Trevor Chicoine to be assigned as Parochial Administrator (to later be installed as Rector/Pastor) effective on January 5, 2026.  His current assignment as Vicar of Divine Worship for the Diocese of Des Moines will continue within its current scope of responsibilities.  Also, he will no longer serve as Dean of the Atlantic Deanery at the time of his new assignment.

The Rev. Brad Robey to be assigned as Parochial Administrator of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Atlantic, IA., St. Mary’s Parish in Anita, IA., and St. Timothy’s Parish in Reno, IA., effective on January 5, 2026.

The Rev. Joseph Pins, while remaining Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, West Des Moines, has been granted a three-month Sabbatical for renewal and study from January 1, 2026 – April1, 2026.

The Rev. Larry Hoffmann (retired) to be assigned as Parochial Administrator at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, West Des Moines, from January 1, 2026 – April1, 2026, providing administrative and pastoral assistance.

The Very Rev. P.J. McManus, while remaining Pastor of Christ the King Parish, Des Moines, has been granted a six-month Sabbatical for renewal and study from January 1, 2026 – July1, 2026.

The Rev. Rodrigo Mayorga Landeros to be assigned as Parochial Administrator of Christ the King Parish, Des Moines, effective January 1, 2026.

The Rev. Ryan Andrew has been granted a Personal Leave of Absence from ministry for self-care and discernment effective November 10, 2025.

The Very Rev. Christopher Pisut, while remaining Pastor of St. Augustin Parish, Des Moines, and Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Des Moines, has been granted a Medical Leave of Absence for healing and self-care effective from November 15 – March1, 2026.

The Rev. Greg Leach (retired) to be assigned as Parochial Administrator at St. Augustin Parish, Des Moines, effective from November 15 – March1, 2026, providing administrative and pastoral assistance.
