Confirmation Resources
The Diocese of Des Moines Confirmation Program is designed to help young people and their families encounter Jesus Christ, deepen their Catholic identity, and embrace their mission as disciples of the Gospel. Rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church and centered on the Sacraments of Initiation, this eleven month journey forms hearts, minds, and families for lifelong faith.
Built around four essential movements of faith, Belonging, Identity, Encounter, and Mission, the Confirmation journey helps families grow together while preparing candidates to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and actively live their faith long after Confirmation day.
To support this formation mission, the Diocese of Des Moines has developed a comprehensive collection of resources for parish leaders, clergy, catechists, sponsors, and families. Below you will find program guides, catechist resources, family formation materials, sponsor conversation tools, retreat frameworks, curriculum alignment charts, and other practical resources designed to help parishes faithfully implement the Confirmation Program while adapting it to their local context.
There is also a Resource Review Feedback Form to help us refine the materials before we use them for training in October. Please have your feedback to us by Friday, September 11, 2027. We also hope to begin translating the documents into Spanish, Vietnamese and whatever languages may be needed at St. Ambrose Cathedral.
